Course Description:
This course is designed to be the equivalent of an introductory college biology course taken by biology majors
in their first year. There are two major goals of this course: to give you a
conceptual understanding of basic biological topics and to begin to understand that science is an ongoing process that relates
to the world around you. This course covers topics such as molecules and cells,
heredity and evolution and organisms and populations and is a laboratory-based course.
The class is a combination of independent work (reading, outlining, study, essay writing, tests / quizzes) and collaborative
work (presentations and labs).
Classroom Rules
1) Be prepared
for class.
a. Be in
your assigned seat when the bell rings with all books and materials ready.
2) Respect this classroom.
a. No food or drink.
b. Pick up all trash and dispose of it
properly.
c. Return materials to their proper location.
3) No music
devices, cell phones, game systems, cameras.
4) Follow
directions the first time they are given.
5) No cheating
What is expected of you:
1) · You are a student. I expect you to take that
title seriously.
Do all assigned work to the best of your ability.
2). · Be ready to learn.
· Be present, in your seat and ready to work with all of your materials EVERY DAY.
